Holidays between the hills of Umbria and Tuscany
Discover my hidden rentals in the region
If you are looking for a slice of heaven, you should surely come to this magical part of Central Italy. What would you say to a night-time sky where fireflies and stars intermingle?
Ours is a traditional farmhouse surrounded by nature, situated in tranquil, unspoiled countryside on the border of Umbria and Tuscany and is thus ideal for visiting the many wonderful artistic, architectural and historic sights of Central Italy.
The accommodation is on two floors: on the ground floor you have a sunny and large dining room, furnished with typical Italian furniture which is the center of the house.
Adjacent to the dining room is the separate traditional Italian kitchen with its open fire place. The kitchen is equipped with modern electrical appliances and, again, typical Italian furniture.
Beyond the kitchen is a single bedroom and bath.
Off of the dining room you will find a very nice and sunny studio with some books for the guests’use, and a double sofa bed.
On the other side of the dining room is the access to 2 bedrooms (one double and one twin), 1 bathroom a second small kitchen. From the hallway, there is a staircase to the upstairs bedrooms.
On the second floor you have a spacious living room with a superb view of the surrounding countryside, a big open fire place, 3 bedrooms (2 doubles and one twin) with the same view, and two bathrooms.
Garden and Outside facilities
Outside there are 3 terraces, one outside the dining room, one outside the kitchen and one facing south.
Thus at all times you have a sunny place where you can sit and relax or eat al fresco while taking in the wonderful views of the green, wooded hills.
Outside there is a large garden, with a lot of sweet-smelling flowers, as well as a play area for children with a slide and a swing.
Bio Swimming Pool
In the best part of the garden area, surrounded by olives trees, is situated the bio lake, a swimming pool built like a mountain lake.
All around the bathing area there are lacustrine plants such as water lilies and hibiscus.
You can relax under the sun near the shores while the children play in the water.
The water that fills the little pond originates from a natural source.
It falls down into the lake from a white stone fall surrounded by sweet-smelling roses. ( 1.40 m deep)
There is a filter-purification system to clean the waters with bio products, without chlorine or other chemical substances.
Sun umbrellas and lawn chairs are at your disposal around the lake.
Things to do in the area
In the immediate area of Tuscany and Umbria there are a lot of medieval hilltop villages and towns to visit, like:
- Monte Santa Maria Tiberina,
The most famous Tuscany and Umbrian cities such us:
- Lake Trasimeno,
are all within a one and a half hour drive from the house.
Cortona, one of the loveliest Tuscan medieval towns, is a thirty minute drive from home.
There are various local festivals and events throughout the year, many with a food theme. These are a good opportunity to get a feel for the local culture.
Every day in a different nearby town, there is a local market where you find organic vegetables and typical Umbrian products like “porchetta”, roasted pork cooked in an oven for 8-10 hours.
Eat “porchetta” with a typical Umbrian bread…delicious!
